Successful HybridKnife® workshop in Hong Kong

Erbe China ltd. supports training of medical specialists at the Prince of Wales Hospital.

On August 17th, the first advanced training course with HybridKnife® took place at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong. Most of the 50 participating physicians came from South-West China, South China and Hong Kong, Macau, and from the Philippines. The workshop was the first of its kind to be held in Hong Kong. Professor Philip Chiu, director of the Center of Endoscopy, chaired the event which marks the beginning of a cooperation between Erbe China ltd. and the Prince of Wales Hospital. With active support from our subsidiary Erbe China ltd., the Prince of Wales Hospital is in future to become a training center for the entire Asian region.

Three prestigious professors from Mainland China had been invited as lecturers for the course: Professor Pinghong Zhou from Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital, Professor Wei Gong from Nanfang Hospital in Shenzhen and Professor Honggang Yu from the People's Hospital of Hubei Province. Professor Zhou reported on the applications of endoscopic transmural full-thickness resection (EFTR) and submucosal tunneling endoscopic resection (STER). Professor Gong lectured on endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM). Professor Yu presented his experiences with the application of ESD in the colon. All three specialists mentioned the advantages of HybridKnife® in endoscopy, in particular the combination of height- and cutting function. The lectures were followed by practical demonstrations on porcine models. All participants of the course emphasized that they had learned much from this course. Particularly the experience of endoscopic surgery, procedures and techniques was appreciated. Further workshops are being planned.
